The Dragon of the West

Description

The latest in my series of landscapes inspired by The Last Airbender.  This one gave me a lot of grief just in the idea and then the composition.  It's not really true to the episode ("Winter Solstice part one")- it's more tropical with a bigger dragon, but there's ONE brief moment in this episode that I always thought was so significant; Uncle Iroh being able to see Aang and the blue dragon when they're in the spirit world.  I've always loved this turning point, when Iroh is fleshed out a bit more and you get a glimpse into who he used to be.

When fanart (including my own, admittedly) overwhelmingly focuses on characters in the visible foreground, seeing beautiful landscape paintings like this, also inspired by favorite shows and such, is really cool. :) Found this one by searching for my favorite ATLA character, and couldn't be happier that I did!

[Update: Ah, I just realized you also made the Omashu painting, where I commented something very similar to this! :XD: Well, it's nice to see your gallery again! You have a lovely one. :D]
